Question 1

Will the GIF still be animated?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The caption is drawn onto every frame, and each frame keeps its original timing, so the GIF plays exactly like before with the text on top.

Question 2

How do I make a meme-style caption?

Accepted Answer

Keep the default white text with Outline on and put it at the top or bottom. The outline is drawn in black around light text (and white around dark text), so it stays readable on any background.

Question 3

Can I add more than one line?

Accepted Answer

Long captions wrap onto new lines automatically to fit the width of the GIF. Lower the text size if a caption covers too much of the image.

Question 4

Does adding text make the file bigger?

Accepted Answer

Slightly. The frames are re-encoded with the text included, which can add some size. If you need to hit a limit like 10 MB for Discord, run the result through the GIF compressor.

Question 5

Is there a watermark?

Accepted Answer

No. The only text added is the caption you type.

Question 6

Is my GIF uploaded?

Accepted Answer

No. The text is drawn and the GIF is encoded on your device, so the file never leaves your browser.
