Question 1

How do I make a GIF loop forever?

Accepted Answer

Drop the GIF, keep Forever selected, click Set loop and download. The tool shows how the GIF plays right now, so you can see whether it needs changing.

Question 2

How do I make a GIF play only once?

Accepted Answer

Pick Once. The GIF plays through and stops on its last frame, so make sure that frame is the one you want people to see.

Question 3

Does changing the loop lower the quality?

Accepted Answer

No. Only a small setting in the file changes. Every frame is copied exactly as it was, and the file size stays almost the same.

Question 4

Why does my GIF stop after one play?

Accepted Answer

GIFs without a loop setting play once in most browsers and apps. Setting it to Forever fixes that.

Question 5

Is the loop count respected everywhere?

Accepted Answer

Browsers, email apps and most chat apps follow it. A few apps, like some messengers and social sites, always loop GIFs or convert them to video, whatever the file says.

Question 6

Is my GIF uploaded?

Accepted Answer

No. The change is made on your device, so the file never leaves your browser.
