Question 1

How do I make a typing text GIF?

Accepted Answer

Type your text, pick a size, font and typing speed, and watch the live preview. When it looks right, click Make GIF and download. The text appears one character at a time, then the cursor blinks before the GIF loops.

Question 2

Can the background be transparent?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Turn on Transparent and the GIF has no background, so only the text and cursor show. That works well for overlays on videos, slides and stream layouts. GIF transparency has no soft edges, so pick a text color that suits the background you'll place it on.

Question 3

How long is the GIF?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the text length and speed: at 12 characters per second, a 30-character line takes about 2.5 seconds, plus the pause at the end. Raise the speed or shorten the pause for a shorter GIF.

Question 4

Can I use more than one line?

Accepted Answer

Long text wraps onto new lines automatically to fit the width. The text shrinks if it doesn't fit, so use a wider size like Banner for long sentences.

Question 5

Where can I use the GIF?

Accepted Answer

Anywhere GIFs work: Discord, Slack, email signatures, GitHub READMEs, websites, presentations and social posts. Turn it into a video with the GIF to MP4 tool if a platform only accepts video.

Question 6

Is there a watermark or upload?

Accepted Answer

No watermark, and nothing is uploaded. The frames are drawn and encoded on your device.
