Question 1

What kind of background can it remove?

Accepted Answer

A solid or nearly solid color, like the white, black or green background of a sticker, logo or screen recording. Photos with busy or changing backgrounds need an AI video tool instead.

Question 2

Why are there colored edges around my subject?

Accepted Answer

Anti-aliased edges blend the subject with the old background, so a thin halo of in-between colors remains. Raise the tolerance a little to remove more of it, or pick a color closer to the halo.

Question 3

What's the difference between “Background only” and “Every matching pixel”?

Accepted Answer

Background only removes the color where it connects to the edge of the frame, so a white shirt in front of a white background stays. Every matching pixel also clears the color inside the subject, such as the holes in letters.

Question 4

Can a GIF have semi-transparent pixels?

Accepted Answer

No. A GIF pixel is either fully transparent or fully opaque, so soft shadows and glows can't fade out smoothly. For smooth transparency, convert the result to animated WebP.

Question 5

Is my GIF uploaded?

Accepted Answer

No. Every frame is processed on your device in the browser, so the file never leaves your computer or phone.
